Identifying Your Laptop Model Number

Identifying the correct laptop series and laptop model number is essential giving you an accurate quote for your laptop.   The laptop series is typically more prominently displayed as part of the branding of your laptop, typically on the top cover, or on the keyboard area or display panel area of your laptop when you open it up.  However, laptop model numbers are not always easy to find.  Please select your laptop manufacturer, below, to get help identifying your correct model and series.   Please note that some manufacturers have both a series AND a model number, you will need to identify both of these numbers to find your part.   Other manufacturers only require a series to be identified, as shown below.

Locating Your Sony Model Number

Sony laptop series and model numbers begin with the letters "PCG" or "VGN" and are located on a small label on the frame around the LCD display or above the keyboard.   The label is normally the same color as the case with contrasting letters.  The model number is typically a more detailed variation of the series number - both numbers can be obtained from the same label.

NOTE: Do not use the "Model" listed on the grey label on the back of the computer as this will not provide the correct information.
