- I live in Western or Central Mass / Southern Vt or Western NH Northern Ct can you pick up my laptop and drop it off? We offer free pickup within 10 miles of downtown Greenfield MA. Beyond that mileage charges are applied.
- Do you need a password to get into my system? No, we do not need any of your passwords
- Do you need my hard drive? We don't need your hard drive. We encourage everyone to keep the hard drive home.
- Do I need to send an AC adapter? Yes, to test out your system we would prefer to have your OEM AC DC power adapter, however in some cases if you are missing an AC DC adapter we still can work on it and test out your computer using our adapters.
- Are you liable for anything that will happen with my laptop? Not at all, replacing a dc jack on your laptop is an extremely time consuming process. It usually takes about 2 hours just to get the old jack out of your motherboard without damaging the board or the traces for your DC Jacks. It is also a repair of last resort and as such it has inherrent risks. You can call your laptops manfacturer and he'll be glad to fix it for you. Usually the charge is around $479.00 + Shipping. What we believe they will do is to replace your motherboard with a "Refurbished" motherboard, not repair yours. That could mean the board had bad chips, capacitors or other issues "refurbished" rather than simply a power jack. Our experience with "Refurbished" motherboards is that something like 1 in 3 will re-exibit problems in short order, usually shortly after the warranty has run out. Just because they charge more $$ doesn't mean you're getting a better solution.
